部局間交換留学：ベルゲン大学（2023年8月〜2023年12月）University of Bergen (Exchange program from August to December 2023)
私は中学生の頃から漠然と「留学」というものに憧れていたため、神戸大学国際人間科学部を選びました。そして、数多くある交換留学の協定校の中でベルゲン大学を選んだ理由は、英語で開講される授業が多く、留学生が多く集まる大学であったからです。また、ノルウェーののんびりとした雰囲気にも魅力を感じました。ノルウェーの人たちはとても英語が堪能なので、ノルウェー語ができなくても、生活で困ることはありませんでした。もともと留学生が多い街なので、街の人も留学生に対してとても親切です。しかし、私はノルウェー語を学んでみたかったため、ノルウェー語入門コースの授業も履修していました。留学生向けのコースであるため、授業内でも日常生活で役立つ表現や単語を多く習いました。
留学先の大学では、北欧の政策・政治についての授業と、コンテンポラリー・アートについての授業を履修していました。どちらの授業でも課題が出ることはほとんどなく、初めは何をすればわかりませんでした。しかし、同じ授業を取っている友人に相談したり、図書館で関連文献を調べたりするようになりました。友人からは、授業のパワーポイントを端から端まで見返すことを勧められました。どの授業でも、専門的な言葉が多く出てきたため、それらの言葉を調べることでより深く講義を理解することができたと感じています。
ルームメイトとハイキング
ベルゲン大学での交換留学プログラムを通して、人間として大きく成長できたと私は感じています。現地到着後は、知り合いがいない、行ったことも無い場所で、初めて会う人たちと協働生活を始めました。初めは毎日不安でしたが、だんだん周囲の人とも打ち解け、互いに親友だといい合える友達もできました。また、ノルウェーで、私は人生で初めてハイキングにチャレンジしました。ノルウェー、特に私が住んでいたベルゲンという街では、ハイキングがとても盛んです。今まで一度もハイキングをしたことがありませんでしたが、ルームメイトが誘ってくれた時には必ず「Yes！」と行って、一緒にハイキングに行き、仲を深めることができました。

I had been interested in studying abroad since junior high school, so I chose the Faculty of Global Human Sciences at Kobe University. The reason why I decided to study at the University of Bergen as an exchange student is this university offers a lot of courses in English and has many exchange students. Additionally, I found the cozy atmosphere of Norway appealing. Norwegian people speak English fluently, so you can communicate with them in English even if you do not speak Norwegian. But I wanted to study Norwegian, so I took a Norwegian course for international students. Thanks to the course, I can sometimes use Norwegian in my daily life.
Moreover, I took courses about Scandinavian politics and government, and contemporary art. There was almost nothing about assignments and homework in the classes, so I had to figure out what to study outside the classrooms to understand the topics well. This learning style was very different from what I usually do at Kobe University; I just attended classes, submitted homework, and took exams at my home university. Therefore, I had no idea what to do at the beginning. However, I asked my friends taking the same courses for advice and searched for books related to the course content. With my friend’s advice, I read the class materials carefully and looked into new terminology every time. Then, I developed my self-studying skills.
初めてのオーロラ
Through the exchange program, I have developed as an individual. During this program, I lived in a place I had never been to and with new people. Initially, I was so nervous, but I built good relationships with people around me and made friends we can regard as best friends. Also, in Norway, I challenged hiking for the first time in my life. In Norway, especially in Bergen, hiking is very popular. Although I didn’t have any hiking experience, I said “Yes!” whenever my roommates asked me to go hiking together. Through hiking, I could deepen relationships.
